Lasagna with Meat Sauce
The dish that started it all!
When West Best Foods was first founded in 1982, it started with one product. To this day it is still the most popular item on our entire menu.
With our founder's Italian roots, he made sure to create a product that served as a testament to what his family would prepare at home. Husband and wife were able to make a dish that spoke to the home cooking each had grown up with while, making a product easily and quickly assembled for the fast-paced Las Vegas demand. This included quality, affordable entrees to serve at our city's world-famous buffets
Over the decades our menu has expanded to include a huge variety of products, but our signature product has still remained true to its original concept.
Each lasagna begins with traditional lasagna noodles that we cook to al dente and then begin layering it into an aluminum tray. We then add made-from-scratch marinara with meat sauce, our in-house ricotta blend, and continue layering until we achieve a perfect family dish. We top it with mozzarella and parsley for garnish.
Typically its sold in units of 6 lbs. trays with 4 per box, but for our outlet we have been sharing this delectable entree a tray at a time for only $15. One tray of lasagna can typically feed up to 8 per tray depending on the size of slices (and of course your appetite!)
Cooking Instructions: Preheat oven to 450'. Remove the label from the lid and remove the lid from the tray. Does not need to be thawed beforehand. If you do wish to thaw, adjust cooking times to 60 to 75 minutes. Slightly bend the lid so that it forms a small tent over the tray. Place this tented lid back on the tray and place it in the oven. Cook for approximately 75 to 90 minutes, or until the center is hot. Remove from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes to let the lasagna settle and firm before cutting into.
Serving Suggestions: Perfect for families! Serve with a garden salad and garlic bread to create a complete meal. Great at dinnertime or late lunch. Also, an amazing item to include on a buffet during get-togethers and parties. Each comes fully frozen so will keep in your freezer for up to 6 months. Many people will purchase to give as easy meals for friends and family.
West Best Secret Cooking Instructions: Here is an alternate cooking instruction as a bonus for those that got this far! Preheat oven to 500'. Remove the label from the lid and remove the lid from the tray. Do not thaw. Slightly bend the lid so that it forms a small tent over the tray. By loosening the lid and tenting it, it allows for heat to circulate more evenly and keeps the cheese on top from sticking to the lid during cooking. Place this tented lid back on the tray and place it in the oven. Cook for 30 minutes at 500'. Lower the oven to 450' and continue cooking until the center is hot. This will take approximately 45-60 additional minutes. Remove from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes to let the lasagna settle and firm before cutting into. We have been making our own lasagnas this way for years.
